dave-isaacs   A few slots are still available for the last Guitar Circle class of the year, starting TONIGHT, October 20th!
The only way to really learn to play is to play! The Guitar Circle is a song-based class for basic strummers, and it doesn’t matter whether you know all your chords or how long you’ve played guitar….everyone can benefit from playing simple songs in a group setting.
We’ll dig into two songs each week, classic and contemporary, that use a particular pattern or technique. Learn some new chords and rhythms, and most of all get more comfortable playing with others.
The Guitar Circle has been an ongoing series for a year now, with a number of people returning two and even three times. Is it your turn to join the circle?
MONDAYS, October 20-November 17, from 6:30-8 PM.
Cost is $150 for the five-week class and includes all charts and audio and video resources. Email daveisaacsmusic@gmail.com to register!

Hello friends!

I am very excited to be hosting my 2nd Annual “Drummer’s Weekend” in Nashville NEXT WEEK  on October 31 thought November 2nd, 2014. This is a truly immersive, one of a kind event that gets drummers up close an personal with the drummers that are making the world of popular music happen NOW! Guests are  immersed in 24 hours of hands on training with me and my guest teachers that include Liberty Devitto (Billy Joel), Chris Fryar (Zac Brown Band), and Sean Paddock (Kenny Chesney). Other teachers include percussionist Billy Hawn (Colbie Callait) and Ableton expert Ben Jackson (Frankie Ballard). Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts) will be teaching a class on The Nashville Number System, and Bruce Springsteen/Max Weinberg drum tech Matt Payne. will teach a tuning masterclass. Danny and Beth Gottlieb (Lt. Dan Band, Pat Metheny, Sessions) Jack Bruno (Tine Turner/Joe Cocker), and Jason Aldean’s 3 Kings rhythm section (Kurt AllisonTully Kennedy) will be making themselves available for insightful Q and A sessions. I love to spoil everyone with 3 catered meals per day, so Rockstar drummers like Eddie Bayers (Studio Legend), Ed Toth (The Doobie Brothers), Garret Goodwin (Carrie Underwood), Matt Billingslea (Taylor Swift), Lester Estelle (Kelly Clarkson), Sean Fuller (Florida Georgia Line), Keio Stroud (Big and Rich), Kent Slucher (Luke Bryan), William Ellis (Montgomery Gentry) and other surprise guests will be mingling and dining with students. This same group will be part of a studio/touring drummer roundtable for Q and A and demonstrations. Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta will be at the camp the entire time as my official “artist in residence”. An all star rhythm section of Chris Nix (Chuck Wicks/Sessions) and Luis Espaillat (Lindsay Ell/Sessions) will be on site to play with students and give them immediate feedback for improvement. This same rhythm section will be the house band for our Closing Ceremony Concert at the famed Douglas Corner Cafe. This event allows students to play with recording artists like Rick Brantley and Shelly Fairchild in front of a paying Nashville audience. All proceeds from this event benefit the W.O. Smith School of Music in Nashville. The event has strong support from it’s official sponsors: Fork’s Drum Closet, Soundcheck Nashville, School Of Rock, Douglas Corner, Sean Deel Foundation, Western Beat, DW Drums, Sabian, Remo, Promark, Roland, Gator, Cympad, LP, Prologix, Audio Technica, Drumtacs, Pitch Slap, Red Monkey, Danmar, Auarlex, and many other amazing companies such as Nashville Muse, Music Starts Here.org and OTTO Print.

WHO reads the Nashville Muse among the 3,300+ subscribers?

Tony Arata – Hall of Fame Songwriter “The Dance”, “Here I Am”.  Saw two great shows at 12th and Porter and the Station Inn this week – both of which that I might have missed were it not for info in the Nashville Muse.
Thank you for your good work on behalf of songwriters, musicians and artists here in our hometown.

Byron Hill,  multi #1 hits and 700+ cuts – “Fool Hearted Memory”, “Born Country”.  The Nashville Muse is a great go-to information source for that quick snapshot of upcoming songwriter events.

Joie Scott #1 and Emmy Nominated songwriter. “Not That Different”, “Shoes” I think the Nashville Muse and Special Deliveries are invaluable when it comes to knowing what’s happening in Nashville. I love the fact that I can find info on everything from the music scene … to where to get my car fixed.   Thank you Doak Turner for putting the city at our fingertips and doing what you do best … helping people!

Pat Alger, Hall Of Fame Songwriter, “The Thunder Rolls”, “Small Town Saturday Night”  Doak Turner’s a good guy with a really good idea. Nashville Muse is the number one way to find out what’s happening musically in Nashville.

Bud Tower, songs cut by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Jr. owner of WikiRymer.com  The Nashville Muse: The place I go to find out what’s happenin’ in Nashville—who’s playin’ their own songs, and when and where. Love it!

Kent Blazy, “Ain’t Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up”, “Gettin’ You Home” (Black Dress Song) and other great songs.  Doak is a valuable asset to the Nashville music community. When folks who have just hit town ask me who or what they should check out I mention Nashville Songwriters  Assoc,BMI,ASCAP & NASHVILLE MUSE.All those things will give them  information that will assist their grasp of what Nashville is about.Thru Doak’s site folks can meet other folks, find out where music is,and learn the ropes of The Row.It’s a great networking tool no matter where you are in your career. I always let Doak know when my band is playing because i know a lot of folks will find out about it thru THE Nashville MUSE. Doak also does a lot of behind the scene things that assist our community,he’s too modest to mention those things. Thanks Doak for all you do & being you…kent

Dave Isaacs – Guitar Teacher and touring artist The Nashville Muse is an essential resource for our songwriting community.

Ralph Murphy, ASCAP and songwriter “Seeds”, “Half The Way” - I travel a lot, so it’s important for me to know what’s going on in Nashville. The Nashville Muse always keeps me in “the loop” so that I always am in the know as to events and opportunities to network and celebrate with my fellow Music Business lunatics!! Many thanks Doak for going the “extra mile” for us all. Best, ralph murphy

Benita Hill, songwriter, “It Was Your Song”, “Two Pina Coladas”, “Take the Keys To My Heart” I’ve known Doak Turner since he first came to Nashville and he has always been a supportive friend, personally, and for the entire Nashville songwriting and music community. He is really one for those people who loves to help others. The Nashville Muse is a valuable source of information, networking and connection. Yay, Doak!

Benita Hill
