2013 Summer Songwriting Workshop

Moderated by: Mike Doyle-Major Bob Music

This Workshop will focus primarily on the writing, critiquing and re-writing of songs.  The class will be limited to 8 writers.  We will listen to a song from everyone each night.  Mike will critique the songs and if there are re-writes necessary the writer will take a week to work on the song and then bring it back.
If further revisions are required the writer will continue to work on it. We won’t move on to another song until I think the song is finished.  Finished, may not mean the song is pitchable, but it’s the process of re-writing and eliminating mistakes that will be the primary focus of the class.
Location: Major Bob Music 1111 17th Ave. S. 37212
Dates:  May 28 – July 2, 7:00-9:00pm
Deadline for Submissions:  May 24, 2013
Notification of Acceptance: By email May 26, 2013
Cost-$400
Additional Option-$100 for two 30 minute one on one sessions.  Can be purchased at any time during the Workshop

Standalone Panel: Music in the Movies ($40) MUSIC IN THE MOVIES: SATURDAY JUNE 1st 12PM-2:00PM FORD THEATER: COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME.

A not-to-miss MUSIC IN FILM & TELEVISION panel presented by Nashville Screenwriters Conference and Warner Nashville is scheduled for June 1st noon-2pm at the Country Music Hall of Fame’s Ford Theater. Studio and network executives along with leading music supervisors will offer insider knowledge on how to get your music in and make money from placements in major films and television series.

Music industry attendees will have the rare opportunity to submit one song to music supervisor panelists for their current projects. Success stories from previous panels include placements in Dream House (Daniel Craig,) In Time (Justin Timberlake,) The Darkest Hour (Emile Hirsch,) Santa Claus 2 (Tim Allen,) August Rush (Robin Williams) and more.

Actual scenes from projects in post-production will be shown on the big screen in the Ford Theater or script pages read when in pre-production or production.

“Studios or networks rarely share projects with the public until they are released, this is so incredibly helpful as it ultimately removes the blindfolds when pitching songs to those who need them,” Anastasia Brown says.

The affordable ticket price of $40 is much less than a plane ticket to L.A., that is if you can even get a meeting with these executives. “Every label, publisher, manager, song writer and artist in town should attend this financially beneficial and inspiring panel,” states Rod Essig with CAA.

Register for the Music in the Movies at: http://www.nashscreen.com/registration.htm

NEXT WEEK – The Standard Weekend Pass is an incredible value at only $110 and includes all the weekend panels which run from 2pm on Friday 5/31 through 2pm on Sunday 6/2. Check our website for special discounts to students, WGA, TSA, and Leadership Music members!
