NOW YOU can hear the system in Nashville!

Phasx™ is set to introduce the most significant advance in monitor technology in over 30 years and it’s coming to Nashville first! Phasx has developed Shadocaster™, a patented new acoustic technology that creates a Primary Reflection Free Zone™ right on your desktop. Shadocaster monitors allow you to hear as deeply into the mix as you would in a sophisticated studio control room.

“The Phasx PX600 is the most dynamic, impacting, transparent and authentically accurate nearfield system I have heard — with great soundstage depth and purity of tone. It has power to spare and goes down deep. It’s a reference-quality speaker that can also be used effectively as a midfield. Their technologies actually work: anti-comb-filtering, high headroom amplifiers, low distortion tweeter, and accurate voicing. It makes my job as a mastering engineer infinitely easier.” – Bob Katz, Mastering Engineer, Digital Domain, Orlando, FL, engineer of Grammy-winning albums, author of best-selling books including, “Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science, Third Edition”

Contact Doak Turner to schedule a private listening session. System is at the Doakarosa. You’re invited to call or email Doak anytime at (615) 354-6400 | doak@doakturner.comPHASXthumbnail-banner-january. appointments available  to see and hear the monitors!

For new players or even for experienced strummers who play mostly alone, the Guitar Circle is a great way to learn to play with others. We also look at each song from a songwriting perspective, analyzing how the song is put together and why it works.
Classes meet in 4-week monthly blocks on Tuesday nights from 7-8:30 PM, and the fee is $140 for each 4-week session. Sign up now!

STUDIO BUSINESS
21st Century Studio Business Models
Recording studios are not extinct, but the brick-and-mortar commercial facility of the 1990s has evolved down multiple branches on the family tree. An engineer may be owner and operator of a professional home studio, legacy studios of old have often survived by becoming artist or production/management company owned while independent commercial studios that still exist are typically lean operations catering to independent artists. Our panel represents a diverse range of studios, each with their own unique formula for success.

Moderator: Frank Wells (Editor, Pro Sound News; Past President
Panelists:  Randy Poole (Engineer, The Poole Room—Anita Baker, CeCe Winans, Aretha Franklin, Michael W. Smith, Toni Braxton, George Clinton), Cameron Henry (Vinyl Mastering Engineer, Welcome To 1979 Studios—Bob Dylan, JD McPherson, Béla Fleck, Hozier), Brandon Bell (Engineer, Southern Ground Nashville—Alan Jackson, Alison Krauss, Steve Martin, Zac Brown Band, Neil Young, Chris Thile, Jerry Douglas, Earl Scruggs, Paul McCartney), Paul Scholten (Producer/Engineer/Musician, County Q Productions—Byron Hill, Brooks & Dunn, Cletus T. The T.J. Martell Foundation Brings Top-Notch Experiences to CharityBuzz

Raising money for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research is the mission of the T.J. Martell Foundation, and this summer brings a bevy of unique auction packages available online. Through a partnership with Charitybuzz.com, the T.J. Martell Foundation has been able to offer exclusive opportunities to take talent pitch meetings with music industry professionals and experience Nashville at its finest.
The rare experiences that the T.J. Martell Foundation is offering to raise money for the FTL Sarcoma Fund are not just items that anybody could get their hands on. Through the high-level connections at the foundation, auction winners raise money for charity and receive a once-in-a-life time experience.
A package generously donated by Rob Beckham himself, the partner of WME Nashville and a 30-year veteran in the music industry. With a client roster that includes Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Brett Eldredge, Chris Young and many more of country music’s biggest stars, the opportunity to win a lunch with him is truly a rare experience.
Looking for the chance to have a one-on-one consultation with one of the most successful and influential people in Music City? Bid now on this package donated by Executive VP of A&R for Warner Music Nashville, Scott Hendricks, and learn what it is like being one of the most important behind-the-scenes decision-makers in Nashville, Tennessee.
A producer, recording engineer, talent scout, music publisher and former label chief, Hendricks has had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in country music.
Acts such as: Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Hank Williams Jr, and John Michael Montgomery, all have worked with Scott Hendricks in his 30 years of work in the country music industry.
A valuable package donated by Keb’ Mo’, Embassy Suites and Margaritaville. Enjoy a 2-night, 2-room stay at the Embassy Suites Nashville at Vanderbilt after watching the August 28th performance of blues musician Keb’ Mo’ at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Proceeds from these items will benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation’s FTL Sarcoma Fund, in loving memory of Warner Music’s Lindsay Walleman.

The Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, located on the first floor of the Municipal Auditorium, honors musicians, from many different genres of music, who have played on thousands of iconic recordings. Some, like Jimi Hendrix, are well known to the public while others, like Hal Blaine, are not as well-known but created the sound behind some of the most important recorded music in history. visit the website http://www.musicianshalloffame.com

These session musicians have to be well versed in many genres and instruments, because they may be playing in the studio with Alice Cooper one day and Barbara Streisand the next day.

Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum now offers free admission to the nation’s active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2015

Visitors can discover instruments, photos, memorabilia and personal effects from artists such as Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, all the way up to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. WHO reads the Nashville Muse among the 3,300+ subscribers?

Tony Arata – Hall of Fame Songwriter “The Dance”, “Here I Am”.  Saw two great shows at 12th and Porter and the Station Inn this week – both of which that I might have missed were it not for info in the Nashville Muse.
Thank you for your good work on behalf of songwriters, musicians and artists here in our hometown.

Byron Hill,  multi #1 hits and 700+ cuts – “Fool Hearted Memory”, “Born Country”.  The Nashville Muse is a great go-to information source for that quick snapshot of upcoming songwriter events.

Joie Scott #1 and Emmy Nominated songwriter. “Not That Different”, “Shoes” I think the Nashville Muse and Special Deliveries are invaluable when it comes to knowing what’s happening in Nashville. I love the fact that I can find info on everything from the music scene … to where to get my car fixed.   Thank you Doak Turner for putting the city at our fingertips and doing what you do best … helping people!

Pat Alger, Hall Of Fame Songwriter, “The Thunder Rolls”, “Small Town Saturday Night”  Doak Turner’s a good guy with a really good idea. Nashville Muse is the number one way to find out what’s happening musically in Nashville.

Bud Tower, songs cut by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Jr. owner of WikiRymer.com  The Nashville Muse: The place I go to find out what’s happenin’ in Nashville—who’s playin’ their own songs, and when and where. Love it!

Kent Blazy, “Ain’t Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up”, “Gettin’ You Home” (Black Dress Song) and other great songs.  Doak is a valuable asset to the Nashville music community. When folks who have just hit town ask me who or what they should check out I mention Nashville Songwriters  Assoc,BMI,ASCAP & NASHVILLE MUSE.All those things will give them  information that will assist their grasp of what Nashville is about.Thru Doak’s site folks can meet other folks, find out where music is,and learn the ropes of The Row.It’s a great networking tool no matter where you are in your career. I always let Doak know when my band is playing because i know a lot of folks will find out about it thru THE Nashville MUSE. Doak also does a lot of behind the scene things that assist our community,he’s too modest to mention those things. Thanks Doak for all you do & being you…kent

Dave Isaacs – Guitar Teacher and touring artist The Nashville Muse is an essential resource for our songwriting community.

Ralph Murphy, ASCAP and songwriter “Seeds”, “Half The Way” I travel a lot, so it’s important for me to know what’s going on in Nashville. The Nashville Muse always keeps me in “the loop” so that I always am in the know as to events and opportunities to network and celebrate with my fellow Music Business lunatics!! Many thanks Doak for going the “extra mile” for us all. Best, ralph murphy

Benita Hill, songwriter, “It Was Your Song”, “Two Pina Coladas”, “Take the Keys To My Heart” I’ve known Doak Turner since he first came to Nashville and he has always been a supportive friend, personally, and for the entire Nashville songwriting and music community. He is really one for those people who loves to help others. The Nashville Muse is a valuable source of information, networking and connection. Yay, Doak!
